AFF 2004 Trailer Status:
As of tonight, 11 shots (52 seconds) will be done. Leaving 19 shots (38 seconds) left to do in 14 days. It could happen!
So in celebration, I had to get 2 more Muppet action figures...

Stuff is shaping up. 18 days to go. Phew. DROSS is working on the trailer within the trailer's theme song, "Wet Willie Style." I can't wait!
Anybody know anyone who can impersonate Will Smith? Like, NOW?

The opening shots of the AFF trailer are looking phenomenal. If I could post pictures here or if my webpage wasn't down, I'd show you! Until then, use your imagination!
And in other textual hilarity, the Austin Chronicle this week reported from the State Board of Education's textbook review hearings, where several health books are under crititism for failing to adequately teach children sexual education beyond abstinence. I loved reading this transcription:
Woman: I don't know one thing in this world that's fail safe.
Man: Abstinence.
Woman: Oh, abstinence can fail. If you fail to practice your abstinence!
Among the books' recommendations to prevent contracting STD's is 'Getting Plenty of Rest.' I think the right-wing pro-rest lobby is getting a little out of hand. And it's making America look lazy.

I think the Fredo Viola music video and the Homestarrunner/They Might Be Giants videos posted below pretty much sum up why I want to keep doing what I do. Doing educational stuff or special effects stuff would be great too, but... well... damn, these are good. And there aren't even puppets or dinosaurs involved.
What is this, a frigging LiveJournal entry?
Current Music: 'The Sad Song'
Current Mood: real smooth moves
*** Correction! The TMBG video DOES have a dinosaur in it. Life just keeps getting sweeter!

See the animatic (8 MB). Note that the music is temporary, as are my bad impersonations of Nathan Lane, Will Smith, and Scarlett Johansson.

This music video is amazingly simple, beautiful, and moving. Kudos to the artist, Fredo Viola.

THIS put the biggest damn smile on my face just now. I really want to do a music video of some sort after the AFF trailer is done. Maybe Vicious Aloysius, The Handsome Charlies, or DROSS have the need for a Danomation. We'll see how the AFF trailer goes...
Two great albums out today by They Might Be Giants and The Polyphonic Spree - what a day. I could edit/animate all night long! I can't wait for TMBG this Friday in Austin! Woohoo!

Did I actually say I was going to try to animate a 4 minute music video in one week?
I didn't think so... but boy, the Polyphonic Spree is really going to wish they could have extended the deadline for their "Make a Video for the Polyphonic Spree" contest. Because my idea, I hate to say it, it would have flat out won. Young awkward lovers, rampaging zoo animals, sudden unexpected violence: it's what the Polyphonic Spree is all about in my opinion and I'm the person to bring their message to the world.
...but it's an imperfect world and I'm known to have the worst timing ever (like discovering contests one week before the deadline), so to the Polyphonic Spree, I will buy your new album, but I hope you can go on knowing that whoever wins the video contest and your meager $5000, you should have just hired me.
I'll try to post the 7 seconds I started... sometime. Until then, enjoy THIS!
Addendum: "Hold Me Now" clip

Attention: WHITE BLOOD CELL fans everywhere (but mostly in NYC)
Kevin Maher, co-host of First Sundays Comedy Film Festival has alerted me that on August 3rd, 2004, "White Blood Cell Saves Christmas" will play in the "Best of First Sundays" closing night spectacular! See the award-winnning classic that filled audiences full of Christmas joy at last December's First Sundays all over again (and probably for the last time) on the big Chicago City Limits Theater screen.
That's Tuesday, August 3rd 7PM at the Chicago City Limits Theater in NYC - "White Blood Cell Saves Christmas!"

Can a man animate a 4 minute music video in just 7 days? Will love triumph over loneliness? Will freedom ring?
