Me: Know of any good reasons to drop everything and move to New York City?
Kevin: The best reason to come to NYC is to get killed during the Republican convention. If you're not interested in that, there's no real reason to come.

A revised version of the AFF trailer is up HERE. Now with preloading!

So what's it going to be? Austin? New York? L.A.? Atlanta? Who wants some of this?

You've got one week. Finders keepers.

There are never any weird feature films being made in Austin anymore. Oh wait, here's one! Actually the last scene in the trailer features Fossil and Squeeks from Puppet Show, but I guess they didn't make the trailer.

Freaks and Geeks DVD box set week continues... 7 more glorious episodes to go...

But in other news, perhaps you haven't heard that version 1 of the AFF 2004 trailer is done (version 2 will have some animation and editing cleaned up). You can see it in Quicktime/Sorenson 'glory' HERE.

In other AFF news, we haven't won yet, but we're all winners inside. Why? Because First Sundays Film Festival wants to play it, so tomorrow I'm starting a directors cut (version 2.1?). Will there be more robot dancing? More Will Smith one-liners? More Scarlett? Too much Scarlett? Find out soon, playing only at First Sundays or www.danojohnson.com.

Okay, I'm pretty proud of this little beauty. It's a little creepy... just a little.
4 more seconds to animate. Hot damn.

"Yo old man, get the hell out my sea
There's only room for one man in the boat, and that's me.
I can catch a fish and be back before three
Steal your girlfriend, in time for tea. Ha-ha
Hook, line & sinker, I reel 'em in.
I never quit, so I'm guaranteed to win.
Big Will make fishin' look good
Worm's in the water, so it's understood. Uh.

Swim with the big fish, baby.
Wet Willie Style, row with me
Wet Willie, I'm the King of the Sea."

For the record: worst day ever. On the plus side, I could listen to Michael Bridgett improvise Will Smith dialogue all day. "Girl, you all grow'd up like Tyra Banks!"

Another no-pictures post!

So I think my first music video in a while will be for DROSS' hit single, "Wet Willie Style". We just recorded the vocals and tomorrow the lovely Danu Uribe will add her knee-weakening soul-singing. It IS the new HOTNESS. Did I mention how awesome Mike Daross is?

So, my timeline for the trailer just went from 7 days to 4 or 5. More on that as it develops.

For those of you who missed, "White Blood Cell Saves Christmas" in New York City Tuesday night (which is probably everyone who reads this), you missed host extraordinaire Kevin Maher's Billy Crystal inspired movie-medley in which he sang "White Blood Cell Saves Christmas Tonight" to the tune of Cory Hart's "I Wear My Sunglasses at Night." And I quote:

"I just wanted to let you know that it was a real treat to show "WBC Saves Xmas" again.  Got a great response.  I was wondering if it wouldn't play as well, since we didn't have a holiday-spirit in the air.  (rather, we're on high alert!)  But it played like gangbusters.  and all the more kudos, since you didn't have your friends in the house to laugh and applaud at all the right spots.   When the naughty kid gets zapped -- that is priceless, really killed."

I don't take the term gangbusters lightly. That's a swell compliment, Kevin. Thanks, First Sundays.

That's all for now.

The halfway mark is reached. 14 of 28 shots done with 8 days to go. Maybe I can do two more tonight? Gosh, Lane was a challenge. He still kinda looks like I traced a photo and then dropped a silly jabbering mouth on him... which is precisely what I did, but, hey, it's not like I'm a Don Smith, ya know? Jeez... I'm not even a Commander Mark...

I missed the Polyphonic Spree and a party for this >:(
