And on a similar Puppet Show note - our first press clipping from The Daily Texan...

.. JOKE'S ON YOU: On Tuesday, some members of the student television station thought it would be funny to see how many people would pay for the Texan. While they may have gotten a few guffaws while broadcasting images of people walking by a Texan rack with the words "Pay 25 cents" written on it, we at the Texan don't find it too funny that we essentially subsidize the haven for overgrown A/V nerds.

Texas Student Publications, which oversees KVR-9, the Texan, KVRX, the Cactus, and the Travesty - is funded by each of the media units. The Texan generates by far the most dough, funding a majority of the TSP overhead.

KVR barely brings in $10,000 a year for TSP, while The Texan contributes about 25 times that much. But, just because they couldn't stand on their own in a free market and have a really bad sense of humor doesn't mean KVR is a total waste.

When their members aren't cruising the Texan offices looking for dates or taking up valuable F 75 spots, they do occasionally hit on a few good show ideas. Of note is the now-defunct The Campus Loop, which was nationally syndicated, as well as the current Puppet Show and that cool show where people sit around playing video games.
