What to look for if you suspect racoons are nesting in your ceiling:
Mystery scratches that show evidence of little fingers with big claws.
Mystery stains along mystery cracks.
Conversation with apartment manager:
Me: There's a family of raccoons moving into my ceiling... AGAIN.
A.M.: Well we'll have to set up a trap.
Me: Well, do you mean you can get into my ceiling to set a trap? Or are you just going to set up traps outside on the edge of the woods? And you'll need more than one trap because there is more than one racoon.
A.M.: Um... uh... we'll have to set up traps. So we can trap it.
